LORD DATTATREY
'Shreemat Bhagvat' has described about twenty four incarnations. Lord dattarey is described as the sixth incarnation . Lord was born to the enlightened and eminent sage Atri and the noble and chaste Anusuya. Lord is considered to be sakshat Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh.
Each and every part of Lord's picture symbolises eminent things of life. Lord is seen with three heads, six hands, four dogs, a cow, a kamandul, conch shell, Chakra and a trident. ie.... Trishul.
The three heads of the Lord represents Brahma Tatwa(creative cause), Vishnu Tatwa (sustainable energy),and Shiva Tatwa (annihilating energy). Ultimately it is Shristi, Stithi and Laya.
The dumru in the Lord's hand is used to awaken the ignorant souls and give the wisdom. The conch shell sounds the eternal 'OM'. The Chakra symbolises a round circle with no end or beginning. It is used to destroy all the karmic bonds of the devotees. The Lord has a rosary or a japa mala through which he counts his devotees. In another hands he holds a kamandul or a waterpot which depicts the pure nectar like wisdom. The four dogs represents the four vedas. The kamadhenu cow behind the Lord is also called as the wish fulfilling cow. This divine cow grants the spiritual and material desires of the worshippers. Lord stands in front of 'Audumbar' tree. This tree is also known as wish yielding tree. It is a belief the the Lord is always present under the shade of this sacred tree.
My koti koti pranam to the Divine Lord who leads his devotees to the spiritual path of months.
