Our Story

After opening its doors in 1990, Walkover operated for 15 long years as a department store, selling various products under one roof. A lawyer by profession, our proprietor Vrida Tavora balanced her day job with the responsibilities of running the store and being a mother to two boys. After a few years of this balancing act, Vrida decided to quit law and devote more time to her kids and the store. Unsatisfied with the results of the department store format, she toyed (pun intended!) with a few ideas for the space before zeroing in on a toy retail. As a mother, bringing joy to children through fun and play was something she understood first hand and she felt it would be a business she could relate to on a personal level. So in 2005, Walkover the toy store was born. With a dizzying array of toys and games in every category you can think of, Walkover gained a reputation for putting smiles on children’s faces, whatever the season. As time went by, the business even expanded into baby care products to offer customers everything for little ones under one roof.

Today, the year 2018, we have renovated and expanded into a 5000 sq. ft. kiddie dream. Since the beginning, our motivation has always been to provide our customers with a great assortment of toys and baby care products — for all ages and budgets, great friendly service and an overall enjoyable shopping experience. With our new premises, we hope to take this experience to a new level while continuing to deliver joy to the generations of kids and parents to come! :D
