The Curse of Saptarishi on Narayana During the Narsimha incarnation, when Lord Vishnu appeared as the half-lion, half-man deity to protect his devotee Prahlada and vanquish the demon Hiranyakashipu, there was an instance where Narayana’s actions displeased the Saptarishi (the seven great sages). As a result, they cursed Narayana that one day, He would be swallowed by someone. Despite being omniscient, Narayana accepted the curse, knowing it was part of the cosmic play (Leela). The Emergence of Nigas The curse eventually manifested in the form of a demon named Nigas. He became infamous for his audacious acts, culminating in the swallowing of Lord Narayana. However, even in this seemingly dire situation, the divine essence of Narayana remained unperturbed. Lord Shiva’s Intervention The news of Narayana being swallowed by Nigas reached the heavens, causing great turmoil. To restore cosmic balance, Lord Shiva intervened. Known as the destroyer and the ultimate liberator, Shiva confronted Nigas and ordered him to release Narayana. Nigas, overwhelmed by Shiva’s divine aura and realizing the enormity of his actions, surrendered. Lord Shiva, in his infinite compassion, forgave Nigas but also reminded him of the consequences of going against the divine order. Restoration of Cosmic Balance With Lord Shiva’s intervention, Narayana emerged unharmed, demonstrating His infinite power and grace.
