With effect from January 1, 2026, the remuneration of contract doctors and GARD doctors serving at Goa Medical College has been enhanced, along with a structured 5% annual increment. Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said the decision reflects the government’s commitment to recognising the dedication and sacrifices of doctors who form the backbone of Goa’s healthcare system.
This step reinforces a people-centric approach to healthcare by ensuring stability, motivation, and dignity for frontline medical professionals.

To enhance environmental protection and accountability, Goa’s Forest Department has amended the Goa Preservation of Trees Act, 1984, mandating land ownership verification and No Objection Certificates from all co-owners before granting permission for tree felling. The move prevents misuse of permissions and reinforces transparent, responsible, and sustainable development across the state.
