ASG Eye Hospital Expands to South Goa with Launch of Margao Super Speciality Centre

ASG Eye Hospital has expanded its footprint in Goa with the inauguration of its second super speciality eye hospital in Margao. The new facility was inaugurated by PWD Minister Digambar Kamat in the presence of MLAs Venzy Viegas, Cruz Silva and Vijai Sardesai, along with senior officials of the hospital.

Speaking at the inauguration, Kamat urged the Goa government to include cataract surgeries under the Deen Dayal Swasthya Seva Yojana (DDSSY) to make eye care more affordable and accessible. He also stressed the importance of regular eye check-ups and strengthening access to quality healthcare services.

The new state-of-the-art centre will provide advanced treatment in cataract, retina, cornea, glaucoma, paediatric ophthalmology, squint, oculoplasty and other ophthalmic specialities. With this expansion, ASG Eye Hospital now operates two super speciality hospitals and six vision centres across Goa, enhancing access to specialised eye care across the state.

PM Modi, Amir of Kuwait Discuss West Asia Security Situation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a telephone conversation with the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al Sabah, during which the two leaders exchanged views on the evolving security situation in West Asia.

Prime Minister Modi expressed deep concern over the escalating tensions in the region and reiterated India’s strong condemnation of attacks on Kuwait’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He emphasized the need for de-escalation, dialogue and diplomacy to ensure the early restoration of peace and stability.

The Prime Minister also thanked the Amir for his personal attention towards the safety, well-being and welfare of the large Indian community residing in Kuwait.

MLA Venzy Viegas demanded reserved space for traditional fishermen from Benaulim and Colva in the SGPDA fish market in Margao and called for its immediate opening, noting that the completed facility has remained shut for months. He added that the public would have to endure the inconvenience for only six more months, assuring that his government would streamline matters once in power.

The Navelim Congress Block Committee congratulated Shri Girish Chodankar on his appointment as Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President. During the meeting, Chodankar assured full support to strengthen the Navelim Block Committee, said it would be consulted in key decisions, and stressed that new members should work through the Block Committee to build the organization without expecting ticket assurances.
