Meanwhile, the prefrontal cortex, responsible for decision-making, impulse control, and planning, continues maturing past 18, explaining why emotional regulation and judgment improve with age.
Although brain growth in size stops, cognitive development, learning, and memory formation continue throughout life. Experiences, education, and lifestyle choices influence neural plasticity, allowing the brain to adapt, grow, and reorganize despite reaching its physical peak.
