Abnormal head posture arising as a result of eye muscle imbalance can cause severe neck strain, improper development and contracture of neck and facial muscles.

Surgery on eye muscles can correct the abnormal head posture to a large extent!

Though surgery is possible at any age, earlier the better!

Operated a 2.5 month old baby for congenital (by birth) cataract, which was due to Rubella (German measles) infection in the mother during pregnancy. Unfortunately not a rare occurrence, especially in rural areas of the country, it is preventable by Rubella vaccination in the mother before pregnancy.

All adolescent girls should be vaccinated against Rubella; this can prevent the serious and potentially life threatening Congenital Rubella Syndrome in the baby.

There's something so satisfying about treating complicated squints!
This patient presented with a large angle recurrent squint after being operated in childhood. Usually both eyes would need to be operated for such a large angle.
With a technique of MUSCLE TRANSPLANTATION, perfect result was obtained by operating only one eye! Eye movement deficit was corrected as well.

Cataract in children though rare, is an important cause of preventable and treatable blindness.
