World Is One Family

Today, 20 March, 2024 is marked as World Sparrow Day. It aims to promote awareness about the conservation and protection of sparrows whose numbers are falling globally. The first World Sparrow Day was celebrated on March 20, 2010, in India. The Nature Forever Society started the initiative of celebrating this day emphasizing on the importance of saving the house sparrow and other common birds. According to the official website of the World Sparrow Organization, the theme for World Sparrow Day 2024 is "I Love Sparrows", which has been chosen to encourage people to enhance the relation between the sparrows and humans. Some of the ways we can help include: 1) keeping a bowl of water and some grains for the sparrow to feed on. 2) Planting trees in and around our homes to create shelters for them. 3) Not using insecticides or pesticides in your garden as it's harmful to them. 4) Minimizing the use of cell phones around the garden and balcony spaces of our houses as the electro-magnetic radiation impacts them. 5) Reducing water, soil, air and noise pollution as much as possible in our activities. Sparrows help in pollination and also eat larvae of many insects and mosquitoes helping humans a lot. Let's come together to do all that we can to save this little cute bird.
