Uttanasana, or Standing Forward Bend, is a fundamental yoga pose from Sanskrit meaning "intense stretch," where you fold forward from the hips to stretch the entire back body, hamstrings, and calves, calming the mind by increasing blood flow to the head. It's a core part of Sun Salutations (Surya Namaskar) in styles like Hatha, Vinyasa, and Ashtanga, offering stress relief, improved flexibility, and spinal decompression, though it's crucial to maintain a long spine and not just force the head down.
