The beautiful courtyard of the Tulshibaug Ram Mandir. This peaceful temple is one of the places we visit in our Pune Kasba walk. It was built in the 1700's, under Naro Appaji Khire, the Subhedar of Pune.

Pune tour today for James Appleton - in the background is Nanavada, the mansion of Nana Phadnavis, "the Maratha Machiavelli" :) He served as finance minister and advisor to the Peshwas in the 1700's. It was a tumultuous period with many changes in the Peshwa rulers. Nana Phadnavis played a key role in holding the Maratha Confederacy together.

The beautiful Vishrambaug Wada

' विश्रामबाग वाडा '
Vishrambaug Wada - Pune
Covering an area of 20,000 sq feet, the wada is three-storeyed and is known for its carved woodwork. The architecture is influenced by the Peshwa style. The wada is primarily built of wood and decorated with suru (cypress tree)-shaped columns. Each of these columns is built from a single teak tree.
