The proposed projects also include restoring the Vyasarpadi pond and redeveloping ageing corporation schools under the Chennai Schools initiative. The investments aim to improve healthcare, recreation, education and public spaces in one of the city’s key residential neighbourhoods.
The proposed projects are expected to transform Perambur with better civic infrastructure, improved healthcare access and enhanced recreational facilities. If approved, the investments could significantly improve the quality of life for residents while supporting the area’s long-term urban development.

The project will widen and improve junction curves to enhance visibility, reduce congestion and make crossings safer for pedestrians. The redesign will include better pavements, improved signage, clearer road markings and enhanced lighting to ensure safer movement for both vehicles and pedestrians. It will also focus on eliminating blind spots, streamlining turning radii and creating designated pedestrian pathways at busy intersections. A detailed project report is being prepared for the remaining junctions, with funding sought for the next 200 locations, which are expected to be completed in phases over the coming months, subject to approvals and availability of funds.
