On 21 January 2026, a Special Cover was officially carried by e-bike from Mumbai GPO to Taj Mahal Sub Post Office, Mumbai – 400001. This was not a routine commemorative issue. It documented a concrete operational shift in India Post’s last-mile delivery system under the mechanized delivery initiative of the Maharashtra Circle.

The front of the cover clearly states that it was transported by e-bike, and the special cancellation dated 21.01.2026 confirms the carriage. The design showcases Mumbai’s iconic skyline, including Mumbai GPO and the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, along with photographs of postal staff riding electric two-wheelers. A ₹5 Nature definitive stamp has been affixed for postage and properly cancelled. The cover also bears the signature of the carrier, adding authenticity to the carried event.

On the reverse, a bilingual note explains the deployment of 100 electric bikes aimed at improving operational efficiency, reducing delivery time, minimizing physical strain on staff, and promoting low-emission urban mobility. The cancellation of the delivery post office (Taj Mahal S.O.) further strengthens the postal documentation.
