☄️ THE IMPACT THAT CHANGED EARTH FOREVER.
Around 66 million years ago, a massive asteroid slammed into Earth near what is now the Yucatán Peninsula in Mexico.
The impact created the Chicxulub Crater, one of the largest known impact structures on Earth. Scientists estimate the asteroid was about 10–15 kilometers wide and released energy billions of times greater than an atomic bomb.
The collision triggered global wildfires, giant tsunamis, and a dramatic climate shift that blocked sunlight for months or even years. Plants died, food chains collapsed, and nearly 75% of all species on Earth disappeared.
This event marked the end of the Age of Dinosaurs and opened the path for mammals to rise and eventually dominate the planet.
Today, the Chicxulub Crater remains one of the strongest pieces of evidence linking an asteroid impact to a mass extinction event.

If Antarctica is the coldest place on Earth, why don’t tech companies build all their data centers there and use the freezing temperatures for natural cooling?
It sounds like the perfect solution. Data centers produce massive amounts of heat, and Antarctica offers some of the coldest conditions on the planet. But in reality, the idea comes with several major challenges.
The biggest issue is distance. Today’s internet relies on extremely low latency for activities like video streaming, online gaming, AI processing, financial trading, and video calls. If servers were located in Antarctica, data would have to travel thousands of extra miles, causing delays that users would quickly notice.
The harsh environment creates another problem. While cold temperatures can help with cooling, electronic equipment cannot operate reliably in extreme Antarctic conditions without specialized protection and carefully regulated facilities. Building and maintaining those systems would be incredibly expensive.
Logistics are equally challenging. Every server, cable, replacement component, and maintenance supply would need to be shipped to one of the most remote locations on Earth. Even a routine hardware repair could become a costly and time-consuming operation.
On top of that, Antarctica is protected by international treaties that limit commercial development and prioritize environmental preservation and scientific research. Large-scale technology infrastructure would face significant legal and environmental barriers.
Rather than relocating to the South Pole, major tech companies are focusing on smarter cooling technologies, renewable energy sources, and more efficient data center designs closer to the people who use them. In the end, the internet works best when its infrastructure remains near the networks and communities it serves.
