A police party of PP Banganga had established a Naka at Keri. During the naka checking, a motorcycle bearing registration number JK02DT-6459 was stopped for checking. During the search, 17 grams of he**in was recovered from the possession of

Rakesh Sharma S/O Romesh Chander R/O Sungal Khadwani, Tehsil Akhnoor.

Further sustained checking led to the recovery of 150 strips (1500 tablets) of Pregabalin from the possession of the pillion rider Vikas Kumar S/O Satpal R/O Choghan Mohalla, Tehsil Akhnoor.

In this regard, Case FIR No. 94/2026 U/S 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Katra. Further investigation is underway to establish both backward and forward linkages of the arrested individuals and to expose the wider network involved in drug trafficking.

Continuing its drive against illegal activities, Jammu (Rural) Police achieved a success by apprehending six persons who were found indulging in gambling with playing cards in a public place in the Muthi/Bantalab area.

Acting on specific input, a police team conducted a raid and caught the accused red-handed while gambling. During the operation, stake money amounting to 15,500 along with a deck of 52 playing cards was recovered from the spot and seized as per rules.

All the accused have been booked under the relevant provisions of Section 13 of the Gambling Act, and further investigation has been taken up.

Rural Police Jammu have reiterated commitment to curb gambling and other unlawful activities in the area and have warned strict action against violators.

Udhampur Police arrested an inter district drug peddler and recovered he**in from his possession during naka checking at Motor Shed, NHW Chenani.

A police team of Police Station Chenani, while performing naka checking duty at Motor Shed on NHW, signalled a passenger cab bearing registration No. JK01AV-4082, which was coming from Udhampur towards Kashmir, to stop for routine checking.

During checking of the vehicle, the passengers were searched and during the search, 6.02 grams of he**in were recovered from the possession of one person.

The accused disclosed his identity as
Mohd Suhail Lone S/O Wali Mohd Lone R/O Delina, Baramulla.

The accused failed to provide any satisfactory explanation regarding the possession of the recovered narcotic substance and was arrested on the spot. The contraband substance was seized accordingly.

In this regard, FIR No. 50/2026 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act stands registered at Police Station Chenani and further investigation of the case is underway.

Upon checking, the vehicle was found transporting 13 bovines without any valid permission.

A police team of Police Station Udhampur while performing patrolling duty near the main gate of Devika Ghat on Circular Road, Udhampur, noticed one suspicious person coming on foot from Devika Ghat towards the Matador Stand. On noticing the police vehicle, the person abruptly turned back and started walking in the opposite direction in a hurried manner, which raised suspicion.

In a continued drive against drug trafficking, Police Station Janipur achieved a significant success by apprehending a drug peddler during routine checking near Lohaan Park.

A police team led by SHO Police Station Janipur, Inspector Vikram Sharma, was conducting naka checking in the area when a suspicious individual driving an auto bearing registration number JK02DM-3166 was intercepted.

During checking, the accused was identified as Parshotam Kumar (28), S/o Baldev Raj, resident of Khajuria Mohallah. On search, approximately 5.50 grams of he**in was recovered from his possession.

The accused was immediately taken into custody and the recovered contraband was seized on the spot as per legal procedures.

A case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Janipur and further investigation is underway to ascertain the source and intended distribution network of the narcotics.
