The passing of Zubeen Garg feels like the closing of a chapter from childhood for many of us in Assam. The whole state mourned for days, and even now the silence feels heavy.

I still remember those school days, probably when I was in Class 4 or 5. After returning home from school, one of the songs I used to watch again and again was Ye Lehre Ye Pani. Even today, I can clearly remember the vast ocean behind Zubeen in the video. Somehow that scene carried a strange calmness and emotion that stayed in the mind.

Those were the days of DD Metro, when television felt slower, quieter, and more meaningful. Some of my friends had the same taste in songs, and we used to discuss them in school like they were part of our own world. We were too young to explain emotions properly, but somehow we could still feel the depth in those songs.

Years passed, childhood disappeared, channels changed, and life became faster. But certain songs remain untouched by time. They continue to carry the smell of old afternoons, school uniforms, and the innocence of those days.

Some voices do not merely entertain a generation. They become part of its memory. There are lots of such hindi songs of Zubeen from the 90s that are still hidden like pearls.
