Leo captures

There are trees outside my parents home.
I breathe in deep while I sip some coffee. I like the smell of summer, but the thought of winter keeps me warm.
I comb through my memories with more care than I've ever done to my hair. Going through all my old photographs reminds me of who I am and and where I come from.
I'm told the key is to preserve the root.
Still, I have difficulty remembering things.
Growing up my mother cautioned I would not possess the power to plan out life.
I couldn't say I'll be married by X,
Have a kid by Y,
Or have a house by Z.
I was told as much as I will crave to treat my life as one big to do list, I would instead find myself asking, 'Where from here?' atleast a few times in life. Now, I catch myself asking this a few times a day. Where from here?
Three pint sized words shouldn't be able to pose such a fatal and final question, but it does. If you go right, you can't go left. Even if you backpedal to take the other route for just a second your life will be altered. It's this or that, or never both. But I do believe it's in the navigation that you find your way, and inevitably find yourself!
