Highlighting growing concerns over the back paper issue, a delegation of students from various affiliated colleges under Assam University, Silchar, submitted a memorandum to the Cachar Deputy Commissioner on Thursday, demanding the immediate conduct of supplementary examinations for final-year students. The memorandum was received by the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) on behalf of the administration.
The students stated that many final-year candidates are facing uncertainty due to pending back papers, which may result in the loss of an academic year if supplementary examinations are not conducted at the earliest. They urged the district administration to intervene and communicate the matter to the concerned authorities to ensure that students are not academically affected due to delays.
In the memorandum, the students demanded an immediate supplementary examination system for final-year students with back papers, timely declaration of results, faster scrutiny and re-evaluation processes, removal of marks-based restrictions on re-evaluation, and a clear SOP regarding FYUGP fourth-year eligibility.
The student representatives emphasized that the unresolved back paper issue has created anxiety and confusion among students, affecting opportunities related to higher education, scholarships, employment, and competitive examinations. They appealed for urgent action to safeguard the academic future of thousands of students.
