So I'm working on something new!

I can't count how many times Blockchain came up in a conversation, and my friend and I would look at each other and talk about how bonkers the hype around it is. Here's the thing, most of us in tech understand the punchline more or less, but the intuition is missing for the lack of good applications. I had one question -- tell me one useful thing you could build with web3 that you can't build without it (apart from the obvious cryptocurrencies).

And then surrounding things kept coming up: NFTs, Crypto, Metaverse, XR and more. So I went on a whole spiral of trying to understand them pragmatically and to draw parallels with well-established technologies that we appreciate. Now I wanted to share some of my findings -- I think it's a useful exercise to talk about these things beyond the hype. I don't claim to have gotten everything right, but hopefully it helps someone connect the dots in a way they didn't before.
