22 Female Kottayam, Idukki Gold, Mayanadhi, Maheshinte Prathikaram, Kumbalangi nights and the recent Joji, all left strong impressions in Malayali minds. Syam Pushkaran is a name that resonates in all these beautifully memorable scripts. Renowned for his thought-provoking scripts about very socially relevant topics, he began his career by penning the script for Salt n' Pepper which turned out a runaway success. Since then there has been no turning back. At the 64th National Awards in 2016, he won the Best screenplay for Maheshinte Prathikaram. The winner of Best screenplay (Adaptation) at the 52nd Kerala state film awards, We At ICCON 2022, are honoured to have Syam Pushkaran as a part of our judging panel.

Hitham, in malayalam means desire, is an experimental Malayalam Shortfilm which merges the elements of drama with cinematic ex*****on. Hitham is a serious take on the sanity of menstruation, infedility, caste system, gender identity of God,etc. In a direction pattern familiar to those who have seen earlier works of Vishnulal, who with Hitham, made sure that the film resound well with all who went through menstrual pain at least once
