വയനാട് മുട്ടിലിൽ പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്ന സ്വാമി വിവേകാനന്ദ മെഡിക്കൽ മിഷൻ ആശുപത്രിയിലെ ഡോ. ഡി ഡി. സഗ്ദേവിലൂടെയാണ് പദ്മ പുരസ്കാരം വയനാട്ടിലെത്തിയത്. മഹാരാഷ്ട്രയിലെ നാഗ്പൂർ സ്വദേശിയായ ഇദ്ദേഹം, 1980 ൽ വയനാട്ടിലെത്തി സിക്കിൾസെൽ അനീമിയ രോഗികളുൾപ്പടെയുള്ള ഗോത്ര വിഭാഗങ്ങളെ വർഷങ്ങളായി ചികിത്സിച്ചു വരികയാണ്. പദ്മ പുരസ്കാരം ലഭിച്ച ഡോ. ഡി ഡി. സഗ്ദേവിന് എല്ലാവിധ ആശംസകളും നേരുന്നു.
