Hydrocotyle tripartita ‘Mini’ is a popular freshwater aquarium carpeting plant known for its tiny, bright green, clover-shaped leaves. It spreads by runners and can form a dense carpet or compact bush when trimmed regularly.

Care requirements

* Difficulty: Easy to medium
* Placement: Foreground to midground
* Light: Medium to high (higher light keeps it compact)
* CO₂: Recommended for the best carpeting effect, but it can survive without CO₂ with slower, more upright growth.
* Temperature: 20–28°C
* pH: 5.5–7.5
* Growth rate: Moderate to fast under good conditions.

Tips for a dense carpet

* Plant small portions 2–3 cm apart rather than one large clump.
* Trim frequently to encourage horizontal spreading.
* Use a nutrient-rich substrate and dose liquid fertilizers regularly.
* Stronger lighting plus CO₂ produces the most compact growth.

Without CO₂, many hobbyists report that it still grows, but it tends to become taller and less compact, especially under moderate lighting.
