Simin Yaqubi  (IR)

Simin Yaqubi (*1982, Iran). With an early academic background in economical science and social activities, she has gradually shifted her vocation to the fine arts. Theater is another practice which she began to explore since 2011 in parallel to her visual experimentations.

As a visual artist, she has worked within a diverse range of media, including video, sculpture, collage, painting and performance. She is engaged in a posture-based area of visual communication. Subjects of her work often explore dichotomies: tensions between the polished and the rough, the physical and the emotional, and distant and the passionate. Specifically, through experiments in video, she searches for new ways to explore conceptual/visual forms common for non-narrative formats. In her body of works she addresses themes like family structures, communications, identity, integrating/shattered images, peculiar situations such as memory loss, and expired memories.

Simin has exhibited her works internationally both in Iran and abroad.
