TESTING VIRAL PRODUCTS - Period Swimwear… Hundreds of you asked, so here we go🤍. The good, the bad, and as always, the honest.
I bought these myself. But should you?
First a bit of maybe TMI background info: this is my second postpartum period. My flow is currently suuuper heavy at the start.
That’s when I wore the period swim bottoms - for the heavy flow first three days.
I didn’t use any other period product with them.
So here are my thoughts:
PRO: I kept expecting the absorbent layer to puff up in the water or feel bulky… but it didn’t.
It stayed surprisingly thin, was really comfortable.
PRO: If you didn’t know they were period swim bottoms, I genuinely don’t think you’d be able to tell.
CON: I don’t think they’re quite as flattering as my normal swimsuit. I accidentally ordered a size too big, that’s why they’re loose. But in general I’m not a fan of shorts-as-swimwear.
PRO: You couldn’t see any sort of pad shape. BUT you could see the hint of the inner seam under the shorts when they were wet.
PRO and kinda CON: I wore them all day at the beach, including swimming.
On my heaviest flow day, the only time I noticed anything was after I’d been sitting on a white towel for about 20 minutes. When I stood up, there was a tiny pink mark.
MY VERDICT: I’d absolutely wear them again. Especially for beach days with the kids, bike rides to the beach, super active days, etc.
Plus just where I am postpartum, this feels best for me.
NOW YOU: As always, this is just my experience. Bodies, periods and flow are all different, so I’d love to hear yours too.
Have you tried period swimwear? Would you?
There was a time when body shaming young girls was so normal, we barely questioned it.
Looking back now, it’s heartbreaking.
Children shouldn’t feel they have to skip cake to “be good.”
Or joke about not eating because that’s what makes someone “pretty.”
They shouldn’t be put in makeup they don’t want to wear, or made to cry for the camera. They shouldn’t be judged by their dress size before they’re even old enough to understand what that means.
Not then. And not now.
We can’t change what happened. But we can choose what happens next.
We can be the generation that ends the diet talk and the weight-loss jokes. The one that replaces shame with kindness. That teaches our children their bodies are so much more than how they look.
It starts now. Here.
In the words we use about ourselves.
We can do it for us.
And we can do it for our littles.
“Put garlic up there.”
“Try yogurt on a pad.”
“Apple cider vinegar fixes everything.”
“Maybe it means you’re dirty.”
“Maybe it means your partner cheated.”
This is the kind of advice women find when they’re desperately searching for answers about BV and UTIs.
And I know, because in my early 20s, I lived through the BV / UTI / antibiotics / panic-Googling cycle too.
The shame
The confusion.
The feeling like my body was doing something wrong.
But over 21 million women experience BV every year in the US —
So why aren’t we talking about it?
That’s why I love what Happy V is building: science-backed, transparent women’s health support made by someone who actually gets it.
The Happy V Prebiotic + Probiotic formula includes clinically studied strains, clinically effective dosages, and a patented prebiotic designed to support microbiome balance
They’ve got thousands of happy reviewsed - and I’m one of them.
Plus they’re actively campaigning to remove shame around these topics.
Ultimately us women,
We deserve information.
We deserve support.
We deserve science.
And we deserve a whole lot more than garlic bulbs.
