We recently attended the 13th Conference in Bari. The conference highlighted the of , which faces old and new challenges, in particular issues, methods and policies. I will present some of the key findings from the conference:
1. The current guidelines focus only on sustainability, but it is also important to integrate social and economic sustainability into existing policy frameworks.
2. Social problems in the agricultural sector are becoming increasingly important, for example 45% of female agricultural workers in are unpaid and the su***de rate is 59% higher for women than for male workers.
3. Addressing the social problems in the agricultural sector requires measures that go beyond traditional sector programs and a broad consensus on common social problems.
4. The social problems must be context and place specific and involve all stakeholders and improve the measurement and understanding of social problems . g .
I (Amjad Ali) and my Co-author proposed research idea at the DAY OF THE RESEARCHER: “Integration of ecosystem services in agricultural land use planning”. The importance of this proposed study is to preserve Italy's agricultural heritage and ensure food security in a period of increasing urbanization and industrialization. This is critical to the natural that sustain them while protecting urban and industrial pressures.
- also presented the ongoing research project that highlighted how we integrate ecosystem services into our economic model. The aim of this study is to focus on the methodological challenges such as building an accounting framework based on -EA and for and developing an input-output model to perform simulations for makers.
