Alberto Biagetti and Laura Baldassari create work that blurs the lines between art, design, and architecture.

What will the objects of the future look like? What will we truly need?

With Disco on Mars, we explore the aesthetics of space travel as a metaphor for freedom, imagining life on a new planet — a place where our bodies, habits, and needs have evolved.
Objects are no longer just products, but narrative devices: fragments of a possible future, memories waiting to be activated, while sound unfolds as an invisible architecture, shaping both space and experience.

Inv. nr.: Archive MCM-AB-01

Name: Mach-1

Findspot: Mars, Elysium Planitia

Context: Habitat Unit 06 | EVA preparation area

Typology: Wearable object

Description: Rigid protective helmet composed of a metallic shell with a complex, segmented superstructure extending outward from the main body. The upper section is formed by a series of articulated, blade-like elements arranged in a radial configuration, creating a canopy that partially envelops the head.

The structure suggests a high-performance alloy construction, engineered to provide impact resistance and environmental shielding. The segmented extensions may function as protective deflectors, thermal dissipators, or radiation shields, increasing the surface area and modulating exposure to external conditions.

A reinforced lower frame defines the opening and anchoring system, likely interfacing with a suit collar or support structure. The overall form balances mass and distribution, indicating careful consideration of weight, stability, and mobility in reduced gravity conditions.
