Light but more resistant, namely, the glass chemically tempered.

Chemically tempered glass - also known as chemical strengthened glass - is a type of glass made more resistant to scratches, impacts, and cracking through a chemical process rather than heat treatment.

Valuable for the benefits it offers, among which design freedom, the chemical tempering of the glass is gaining visibility.

Based on ions exchange between sodium of the glass (NA+) and fused potassium salt (K+), the chemical process takes place at a temperature of about 450°C, after pre-heating at about 380°C.

It is a molecular strengthening process enhancing the glass resistance to impact, three times over the glass thermally tempered, and resistance to flexions, without modifying the optical features, thus granting high quality standard.

The process takes over a time of about 16 or 20 hours, necessary to ensure proper ion exchange and the achievement of the desired mechanical properties. This time can be reduced to 4 hours by using special glass suitable for chemical tempering and produced by the main glass manufactures.

The RCN’s CT line of machines has been designed to meet different requirements, from small glass units to big ones, from thin glass – 0.5mm – up to thick glass.
The picture shows one CT950 the biggest among the standard sizes, 3200x2200mm, but our offer is wider and customers can choose among different option, knowing that we are able to design customized solutions, tailoring each machine to the customer's requirements, facility layout, and manufacturing objectives.

Con Gimav a Fiera Milano per Vitrum 2027

Il giorno 11.06 si è svolta la site-visit di Gimav presso presso Fiera Milano che ospiterà i padiglioni di Vitrum. Potrebbe sembrare una scelta prematura poiché Vitrum si svolgerà a novembre 2027, invece si è rivelata molto interessante per poter sviluppare al meglio il layout degli spazi e accontentare i partecipanti.

Vitrum si sta preparando per tornare ad essere un polo di attrazione internazionale per il comparto del vetro piano e cavo e sta mettendo in campo tante iniziative importanti, quindi rimanete sintonizzati per scoprire tutte le offerte.

Nella serata, i soci Gimav si sono concessi un momento di svago con una cena conviviale per scambiare impressioni, idee e confrontarsi su temi di attualità in un ambiente rilassato con piatti gustosi accompagnati….. da poco alcol perché poi si guida!
