In moments like this as I’m seated on a plane on my way to Milan ITALY, I’m reminded to be present and take in the fact that I am truly already living out my dream -

My dream of being a working actress, a mom, of travelling, of being flown out to a bucket list destination, of being part of an amazing project that was at TIFF and in theatres across Canada, and the USA, and is not streaming World wide!

Proof that obedience takes you further than comfort. God thank You for these moments.

1. Resistance is public enemy #1
Whether its the pursuit of some kind of art form, or an entrepreneurial endeavour- any act that will amount to long term growth, will elicit resistance. It’s important to identify our resistance- not to stay stuck on it, but to know EVERYONE experiences it.

2. Resistance itself has no power
Rather is fed by our fears. The more we feed into the fear, the greater our resistence will be.

3. Stop victimizing yourself
The minute we make ourselves victims, we stop doing our work. This form of resistance is what the ego wants to keep you stuck where you are.

4. “A pro views her work as craft not art”
This doesn’t mean that what we do as artists isn’t our ART or void of inspiration- but it refers to our approach. As pro’s we come to our work each day as a craft. It isn’t an option, it’s a non-negotiable.

5. Discipline > inspiration
An amateur will allow any excuse to delay their work. A professional doesn’t underestimate resistance— they know if they cave today, they’ll be twice as likely to cave tomorrow.

6. Do it scared!
“the amateur believes he must first overcome his fear; then he can do his work. The professional knows that fear can never be overcome. He knows there is no such thing as a fearless warrior or dread-free artist.” The only way to silence it is to focus on what you can control.

7. Pivot
Just as in life, our art will throw curveballs and our jobs as professionals are to find a way to mentally prepare for that, and still deliver.

8. You need thick skin
We cannot take rejection personally, instead we must use criticism for the purpose of learning and growing. We need to be vulnerable enough to give our all, and then to let it go.

9. What is your DAILY practice?
“Nothing else matters more than sitting down everyday and trying.” Instead of just waiting for inspiration to strike, create an environment that welcomes inspiration.

10. Your higher self
“The self wishes to create, to evolve. The ego likes things just the way they are.”
