Several new uncontrolled objects are generated by fragmentation that occurs in orbit, representing a danger for the space population of active objects. Identify, reconstruct, and monitor them is of outmost importance to ensure the safety of the current and future space missions.

The new paper by our Andrea Muciaccia and Camilla Colombo in collaboration with the SPIRE Lab of DAER, Agenzia Spaziale Italiana and INAF - Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica, presents the work done in terms of observation, monitoring and reconstruction of the Cosmos 1408 fragmentation occurred on the 15th November 2021.
