A lot of artists today don’t look unprofessional. Actually, they look too professional.

Too clean.
Too formatted.
Too close to something we have already seen a thousand times.

The photos are fine. The artwork is fine. The bio is fine. The rollout is fine.

But fine doesn’t move culture. Fine doesn’t make people stop. Fine doesn’t create tension. Fine doesn’t make an A&R, a manager, a label, a promoter or a real listener feel that something is happening.

There is a big difference between looking like an artist and creating the feeling that an artist is actually there.

One is aesthetic. The other is pressure.
Pressure means there is something underneath the surface.

Something personal.
Something unresolved.
Something alive.
Something that cannot be reduced to a reference board.

And no, this doesn’t mean being messy for the sake of it. It means not hiding behind the safe version of “artist branding”.
Because the goal is not to look like you belong. The goal is to make people feel they have found something they can’t easily replace.

Stop trying to look like an artist.
Start becoming hard to forget.
