This group photo, taken during the European Academy of Religion conference, brings together the participants of the 2026 Rome Summer Seminars on Religion and Global Politics and Michael Driessen, Director of the MA in International Affairs at John Cabot University, who organized the program in collaboration with Notre Dame Rome, marking the conclusion of another successful edition.
Drawing on Rome’s distinctive religious and geopolitical landscape, the two-week program brought together graduate students from around the world working at the crossroads of religion and global politics through public panels, expert lectures, seminars with leading international scholars and members of the diplomatic community, site visits, writing workshops, and a policy dialogue.
Many thanks to all the participants, faculty, guest speakers, and partner institutions whose engagement made this year's seminars such a stimulating and rewarding academic experience.

Notre Dame Rome and Hesburgh Libraries have entered into a collaborative agreement to support staffing, technological enhancement, and operations at the Notre Dame Rome Library.
This collaboration will also deepen connections with leading local institutions, including the American Academy in Rome and the URBiS library network, creating new opportunities for research, resource sharing, and academic engagement.
As Michael Pippenger, Vice President and Associate Provost for Internationalization, noted, the partnership supports the broader goal of elevating Notre Dame’s visibility in a city as rich with world-level cultural institutions as Rome is, while expanding access to resources and reinforcing the University’s role in Rome’s academic community.

Notre Dame Rome is pleased to announce the Call for Papers for the conference "Crossing Boundaries, Fostering Dialogue: Humanities, Academia and the City of Rome", organized in collaboration with Università Roma Tre, to be held in Rome on October 19–20, 2026.
The conference brings together two interconnected events:
Giornata di studi: Boundaries and Intersections in Premodern Italy (October 19), featuring interdisciplinary presentations by postdoctoral and early-career scholars
Roundtable: Boundaries of Academia: Impact, Careers, and the Postdoctoral Condition (October 20), devoted to a discussion with senior academics on the professional and structural challenges facing early-career researchers
The initiative seeks to foster dialogue between premodern studies and contemporary academic concerns, placing particular emphasis on the notion of “boundaries” as both a heuristic and a critical problem.
