Some days in Rome feel different ✨⁣

On June 29th, the city celebrates Saints Peter and Paul, its patron saints. and Rome fills with history, tradition, and meaning.⁣

One of the most spectacular traditions of this day is *La Girandola di Castel Sant’Angelo*, Rome’s historic fireworks show 🎆⁣

Born in 1481 by the will of Pope Sixtus IV, this event became famous over the centuries thanks to the genius of Michelangelo, who designed the scenic structure, and later to the Baroque touches introduced by Gian Lorenzo Bernini.⁣

From ancient streets to St. Peter’s Basilica, from Castel Sant’Angelo to the fireworks lighting up the Roman sky, every corner seems to tell a story ❤️⁣

Santa Sabina is one of the oldest and most important churches in Rome ⛪✨

Located on the Aventine Hill, it was built in the 5th century and is considered one of the best-preserved examples of early Christian architecture in the city.

What makes it so special is its simplicity. Unlike many Roman churches filled with Baroque decoration, Santa Sabina keeps a much older atmosphere: tall ancient columns, open space, soft light, and a quiet interior that feels almost untouched by time.

One of its most remarkable treasures is the wooden door, dating back to the 5th century, with carved biblical scenes that are among the oldest surviving examples of Christian wood carving.

It’s a peaceful place, full of history, and a perfect stop if you want to discover a quieter, more authentic side of Rome.

Save it for your next walk on the Aventine Hill ❤️
