Survival tip #2 - Comic Sans, why? 🎨

We know it. It's tempting. It's so round and friendly. We love a round and friendly font here at Grafik Week. HOWEVER, this doesn't mean we'd use it everywhere, right?

What would you think if your passport was written in Comic Sans? Not cool, isn't it?

Comic Sans is a font originally intended only to standardise text in comics. It's easy to read and blend nicely in any illustration.

It's ok to use it every now and then, but try to shift to a more professional - and less abused - font in your next project. Some nice example could be Helvetica Soft, DIN round, Proxima Nova Soft (Grafik Week's brand font 😃) or, if you need a bit of personality, the trendy Halis Rounded.

Join us on 6 May, it's free and we'll cover this and much more topics. Last few tickets remaining 🎟 !!!!

Survival tip #1 - colour models 🎨

Choosing the right colour model for your design project can sound hard 😱 but it's actually easy - sort of 👶

As a rule of thumb, stick to RGB for any work that won't be printed on paper. Otherwise, choose CMYK. Remember, you should chose the colour model BEFORE you start designing to avoid bad surprises at the end 😬

Now, CMYK makes your file incredibly BIG, so you should avoid it when you can. Also, this 4 channels colour model has a more limited colour gamut than RGB. To make things more tedious, industrial printers use their own conversion drivers, meaning they interpret the file they receive and manipulate the CMYK to match their specific calibration. So what should you do? Well, things get a bit complicated. But don't worry, Grafik Week will cover this topic and much more.

Join us on 6 May, it's free. Ticket on sale 🎟 tomorrow!!!!
