Nemo's Garden is an underwater cultivation designed by Sergio Gamberini.
The garden is located in Noli, Italy, and it consists of an underwater installation of several vinyl-plastic biospheres containing various kinds of herbs, vegetables and flowers that are being tested and observed for this alternative and sustainable way of gardening.
This concept of underwater agriculture exploits the sea, and the possibilities it offers, as its primary resource. It aims to be adaptable to the most hostile places on earth, where the lack of agricultural causes poverty and hunger, and repopulate the reef in areas where pollution has destroyed it.
Nemo's Garden has the main goal of not harming the planet, consequently it was designed to be: self-sustainable, using mainly renewable energy from natural resources such as the sun and having the ability of reutilising the freshwater it produces, eco-friendly, not harming the surrounding environment and its natural marine ecosystem.

I first experienced the underwater world as a spearfisherman in the crispy waters of Cape Town. The life and tranquillity of the kelp forests captivated me in every way. I was soon looking for more, more understanding, of what lies within. What is happening in my body when I am down there, that makes me feel so good.

A few months later I started my freediving education in Indonesia and before I knew it, I had completely fallen in love. I had found the thing that resonates with my being more than anything I had ever done before. 

Freediving had showed me something that was buried dormant inside me, a passion for teaching. There is no greater feeling in this world then the moment that your student “gets it”, they come up from a dive with euphoria and a understanding why we do what we do. They just get it!

In 2016 I took part in the Australian depth nationals in Bali where I broke three South African Records. My experience with deep freediving has increased my ability to help students recognise and overcome many obstacles faced in depth.

Don’t take yourself to seriously😃
Sometimes you should just dive for yourself, whether on the line or on a reef. Just do it for the fun, for the feeling, for the love of it no expectations.
