Creating long lasting habits is difficult.
Eben Pagan explained why during the Productive Coach challenge I attended last week.
At the start of a change in your behavior, the excitement will keep you going. But on the 3rd, 4th, 5th day it is going to become very difficult. Because the 'OLD' you wants to get back to the old habit that you are comfortable with. It takes about 30 days before an activity becomes a habit. Before that time it will take discipline & consistency.
It is like a rocket that is launched into space. First you need to conquer gravity, but when you are in space it only takes little energy to proceed. It takes a lot of energy to change your behaviour, but once it is a habit,... it will take little effort to keep it up. But because we all have a limited amount of discipline, we need to set up our environment so that succes becomes inevitable. For example by getting an accountability partner.
