This week we have had the owner of the DB2/4 over from the UK to sign off the bodywork so have done a complete dry build of the car in its second coat of primer so he could see how it will all look when finally painted. He was very happy with it all as this is the first time he has many of the mods he specified in the flesh. As an aside it’s interesting to compare the frontal differences between the earlier DB2. this is the first time we have had them side by side.
finally the t-shirt shows how the week ended!!!!! Enough said, have a good weekend!!!

Here is another project we are colliberating with Aston Service Dorset on. It is a Mk2 DB6 they are carrying out a complete restoration on for a French customer. The body is being repaired by Shapecraft, one of the best in the business. We were always pencilled in to paint this car once paneled, but as it needed to return to Aston Service for a trial fit of the mechanical components it was decided it was as well for it to come for a short holiday to Jersey for all the sub-structure to be painted. So on arrival it was sent to PCS for multi media blasting (glass bead on the edges of the Ali roof and fine sand on the steel) then in to a coat of epoxy primer. Then the shell was extensively seam sealed and reprimed. Aston Service had specified a product called Lizard Skin on the bulkhead and floorpans which is a heat proof coating. We had never worked with this before, and it was a bit of a learning curve, but the end result is amazing!!! Then in to a complete coat inside out of our favorite Polycoat which is a really hard wearing, textured finish. The shell has now been returned to Aston Service for all the running gear to be installed, then back up to Shapecraft for paneling then will return to us near the end of this year for it’s final exterior top coats. The customer is undecided on colour yet so watch this space!!!!

Last, but by no means least of our well overdue updates is our resident DB 2/4 project!!! This one has been a massive undertaking from the very beginning having all the mechanical and chassis work done by Darren Wood and then a huge amount of work to restore the bodywork. Every aspect of the car is either corroded or worn out and sometimes it has been hard to see an end to it, but we have reached a milestone today as all the body repairs and modifications have been completed and the bonnet components reassembled and fitted to the car for the first time as a complete assembly! I did wonder at times whether we would ever see this day!!!! The bonnet gaps still need a little adjusting, but at least all the fabrication and welding is finished and we can move forward in to the paint prep stage. In amongst these photos are two of the car taken when it arrived at Aston Service Dorset many moons ago just to remind us of how far we have come!!! sorry the pics aren’t in chronological order!!!!!
