Two exciting things happened today. First, I wrote 817 words. 🥳 This is the first I am writing in 4 months. I tried many times before and just could not, and today, the words finally came back. I cried like a fool 😭 but they were bittersweet happy tears. Second, my special edition of Firebird by my amazing mate came!

I am angry. I now know why in the Chinese romance dramas I love to watch, they often spit blood when they are upset. I have shared the publishing journey my husband, myself, and a few others decided to undertake to amplify diverse voices one book at a time.

One of our first and incredibly talented young, determined, and hard-working black authors, who I am very proud to support, is . Her first book, A Desert of Bleeding Sand, took weeks of work to get it where it is today. She worked incredibly hard on this and was so kind and understanding when the process was not as seamless as it should be.

Heck, I even did the last editing pass while in the hospital because I believed so much in this book. The cover artist must have even loathed me at some point because of the constant tweaks I asked of her for this cover, which all started at the sketching stage. It was rigorous cause I wanted it to be perfect, and it took the artist about 3 weeks of back and forth before i screamed YES this it.

The editing process was even more brutal, with 5 rounds of editing pushing the author to add 40k more words on her original work.

Then here comes release, and there is this person called Bek doing a campaign smear saying the cover and content is AI generated. She says it is from the kindness of her heart that she is leaving 1 star reviews on Goodreads and making the same accusation on Facebook and in several group. Presumable, she used an AI program to check the cover because she wanted to help us, and this program told her the cover had AI elements.

I am so angry I even cried. My hubby said to simply ignore her because we know the truth. I love him to pieces, but for me, that is not enough. How dare someone do this? Am i really wrong to be so angered and hurt?
