Marie's View From Crow Nest
A Jamaican Perspective on Social Issues, Lifestyle and Relationships.
This is my opinion to which I am entitled.
So JAMAICANS dandruff a scratch dem head ova a very suggestive sexually explicit BILLBOARD.
Yet every end of the Lenten Season, there is an equally staged event with live warm bodies parading in the streets of the Municipality, of the domain of The KASAMC.
Only difference this is a major money drawing event.
This
is a raw UNADULTERATED BACCANALIA SHOW OF CREATIVITY IN COSTUME DESIGNING. NOW,
I am in no way advocating for sexually suggestive BILLBOARDS to be placed in the vicinity of schools or near pious places of Church worshippers, even though we could question the piety of many who attend these revered places.
Anyway in moving forward, in the future maybe the Department with the responsibilities for selling Advertisement Spaces at the Municipality of the KSAMC, shud first vet the products, and also the placement, because after all we want to encourage the creativity of our young fertile
minds, granted that not everyone here in Jamaica is from a certain order.
In my sphere of reference, Jamaica has come a long way baby, like a certain cigarette Ad used to display, enticing women to smoke in the Public, now Cigarette Billboards are not even displayed Publicly anymore.
Yet, alcohol which can become a weapon of mass destruction, it's glamorized in all its finery any given place, highways and byways, underpass and overpass, in Jamaica we can display SELECTIVE OUTRAGE when it suits us, but then again Jamaica's Moral Compass has strayed from STRICTLY NORTH, hovering and even tethering on the POINT OF of NO RETURN.
SO IF A SEXUALLY SUGGESTIVE BILLBOARD CAN AWAKEN OUR COLLECTIVE SENSIBILITIES, to the decayed society that Jamaica has become, then kudos to that creative marketing genius, who will go down as brave in the ADVERTISING MARKETING INDUSTRY.
Maybe if this was THE FAMOUS MADISON AVENUE STRIP IN THE BIG APPLE, this creative person would be lauded and sought out, afterall products have to be marketed in order to get traffic, and all segments have to be served.
Remember the streets of New Kingston is always available.
My opinion, I don't drink Rude Boy.
NO ACT OF TYRANNY COMITTED!!
She was committing an act of desperation. And there is a critical difference between the two. More than that, she was reaching for a tradition that stretches back seven decades in the Jamaican parliament, one that cuts cleanly across party lines.
THIS WAS A DEMOCRATIC MOMENT IN PARLIAMENTARY HISTORY.
Mrs. BROWN BURKE
She did not invent a new form of protest.
She joined a long, cross-party line of Jamaican parliamentarians who understood that sometimes the Mace is the only microphone the powerless have left.

MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica May 1, 2026- Calvin G. Brown.
LIBERATION DAY!!
Protest had always been a part of many cultures. Think about the ones who have gone before, had they not decided that today is the day, would some illegal acts have been changed.
Parliament is the people's house, not Julet and Andrew domain, and if the elected representative that was sent there by the people is being sidelined, then action shud be taken. Go do oonu research, instead of harping on protocols, this is not the first and won't be the last.
Well done ABB, you deserve The Medal of Freedom, from tyranny.
