POLICE INTERCEPT MAJOR ILLEGAL ARMS CACHE AT KANYONYO CHECKPOINT

Police officers have arrested a suspected high-profile illegal fi****ms dealer at the Kanyonyo Vehicle Checkpoint along the Thika-Garissa highway.

The suspect was intercepted on Wednesday morning while transporting a large cache of fi****ms and ammunition hidden inside a vehicle headed for Nairobi.

According to a statement from the National Police Service (NPS), preliminary investigations show the suspect is a major player in an illicit syndicate that supplies and distributes weapons across multiple regions in the country.

Security agencies said the arrest has disrupted a major criminal supply chain that was meant to arm criminals operating within the capital city and its environs.

Detectives have taken the suspect into custody, where he is assisting with investigations to unmask his wider network of suppliers and buyers. He is expected to be arraigned in court soon to face various charges related to the illegal possession and trafficking of fi****ms.

The NPS reiterated its commitment to keeping Kenyans safe and urged members of the public to continue sharing timely information with security officers.
