Kitui Speaker Defies Kalonzo, Leads 30 MCAs to DP Kindiki

Kitui politics has entered the storm zone after County Assembly Speaker Kinengo Katisya openly defied his party boss, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

On the very day Kalonzo was touring Kitui County to rally his political base, Speaker Kinengo was in Nairobi ,leading more than 30 MCAs to Deputy President Kithure Kindiki’s official residence in Karen.

While Kalonzo preached unity and loyalty to the opposition, Kinengo and his team were busy taking tea with the DP, discussing government projects and “development partnerships.” To many observers, that wasn’t just coincidence , it was open defiance.

The meeting has sparked heated talk inside Wiper, with insiders saying Kinengo has grown increasingly distant from Kalonzo’s inner circle. His bold move to meet the DP while his party leader was on home turf is being seen as a loud political statement , that the Speaker may be charting his own path.

“Kinengo didn’t just miss Kalonzo’s event , he sent a message,” said one Kitui MCA familiar with the power games.
