Umoja na Maendeleo Party Leader Kawira Mwangaza has issued a 48-hour demand notice to Mutuma M’Ethingia, demanding a retraction, public apology and admission of liability over alleged defamatory remarks.
Through Kaumbi & Company Advocates, Kawira says Mutuma falsely claimed she was using proxies to file court cases aimed at stopping Meru County staff recruitment and frustrating job opportunities for residents.
The letter also says Mutuma linked her to the collapse of the Meru County Public Service Board website, which was meant to advertise county vacancies.
Kawira’s lawyers say the remarks were false, malicious and damaging to her reputation, political standing, public image and personal integrity.
She now wants Mutuma to:
1. Admit the claims were false and defamatory.
2. Apologise and retract the remarks in two media houses.
3. Publish the apology on his official social media pages.
4. Stop repeating the claims.
5. Give a written undertaking that he will not make similar statements again.
If Mutuma fails to comply within 48 hours, Kawira says she will move to court seeking damages, a permanent injunction, costs of the suit and any other relief granted by the court.
