Cayman Islands Human Rights Commission
The Cayman Islands Human Rights Commission
23/01/2026
This Saturday, January 24th, marks the International Day of Education, a global observance dedicated to recognizing the vital role that education plays in promoting peace, development, and human rights.
In the Cayman Islands, access to quality education empowers individuals, strengthens communities, and creates opportunities for all. Yet, barriers such as financial challenges, learning differences, and social inequality continue to impact many learners.
On this day, the Human Rights Commission underscores the following principles:
• Education is a fundamental human right for every person
• Equal access to learning must be ensured regardless of income, ability, or background
• Respecting dignity means supporting inclusive, safe, and nurturing learning environments
Everyone has a role to play in building a community where education is accessible, valued, and celebrated—and where every learner has the opportunity to reach their full potential.
