CANCELLATION ANNOUNCEMENT

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of a member of the Spot Bay community, Mrs. Vedell Walton. Ms Day Day as she was affectionately known, is the mother of the Spot Bay Committee’s chairman, Mrs Liz Walton Thompson.

Out of respect for the family and the Spot Bay community of friends during this difficult time, the event scheduled for this evening at Tiger Bay Park has been canceled. We appreciate your understanding and support as we extend our condolences to Liz and Ms Day Day’s other loved ones.

The 2025 Spot Bay Christmas Homecoming got on the way in earnest on Monday 8 December at Kirkconnell Community Care Centre and on Wednesday 10 December within the Spot Bay district.
Now in its 9th Year the first event of Homecoming always starts with Committee Members giving back to the community that shaped and influenced their lives and what better way to do so than by honoring those who worked so hard to leave Cayman Brac a better place; our beloved Senior Citizens!! And so each year Spot Bayers who are resident at the Kirkconnell Community Care Centre and Spot Bayers over age 65 living in Spot Bay are gifted with baskets of goodies and are visited in their homes. Photos of the gifts distribution on the 10 Dec will follow in the next post.

The remaining events are posted in the pinned flyer and the SBC invites EVERYONE to join them in celebrating this most wonderful time of the Year!

The SBC is deeply saddened by another passing within our small community.

This Saturday we will say goodbye to a phenomenal woman Ms Singa who became the face of true CaymanKind in the Tourism industry as the Brac first female Taxi Driver and Tour Operator for over six decades .

A courageous and hardworking mother to Shanna, Samantha and Shavon, Miss Singa will be deeply missed. Our heartfelt condolences and prayers are with her family.

The late Maple Valentine Edwards, aka Singa, passed on November 03 2025.

Preceded in death by her: Daughter Shari Rosa Edwards

She is survived by her:
Daughters and son in laws; Maple Shana Walton (Samuel), Valentine Shavon Bodden (Justin)

Grandchildren; Shanell Arianna Walton, Jemal N.S. Edwards, Jahvon Justin Carl Bodden,

A funeral service will be held 9:00 am Saturday, 15 November 2025 at Spot Bay Holiness Church, Cayman Brac.

Interment will follow at Spot Bay Cemetery.
