Tobula

The apartment is located in Almaty on Al-Farabi Avenue. The building belongs to the AFD Plaza residential complex which is a part of a prestigious developing part of the city. The typical existing plan was fitted for a single family with two bedrooms. The task was to design it for a young adult. So, an open-plan living space was born with one master bedroom.
The search for the perfect balance between functionality and aesthetics helped to define the apartment. A blend of minimalism with a hint of classical style decorates the room. A natural tone oak parquet gives warmth to the neutral white and dark gray beige palette of the walls. If you look closely, besides the horizontal line of the paint, there are more horizontal lines that go around the apartment. These lines make it feel more spacious.
Mirrors were used in the hallway to enlarge narrow spaces. On the white part of the wall, a mirror of a neutral tone was used. On the gray beige part - bronze tone mirrors.
The living space was visually divided by a chamfered element that starts at one corner goes up to the ceiling and goes down at the other corner of the space. Outside the chamfered element, the spaces for the pantry, kitchen, and hallway start. This element also helps to have a fluent transition between the different ceiling heights.
