What does it mean when they say baby is in breech position?👀
A breech position is when the baby is position bottom-down or feet-first in the womb instead of being head-down, which is considered the optimal position for labor and delivery.
Babies change a lot their positions during pregnancy; however, taking the head-down position in preparation for labor takes place between the 32nd and 36th week of pregnancy in most pregnancies, or might happen later in some pregnancies.
If the baby remains in a breech position near the due date, doctors might consider options like an external cephalic version (ECV) to manually turn the baby or discuss the possibility of a cesarean section if the baby doesn’t naturally move into the head-down position.
Is there a way to help your baby turn head down to become in optimal position for labor? Yes, there are techniques that encourage a baby to move from a breech position to head down, although effectiveness can vary.
Stay tuned to know more.
