Jordan and the UAE have launched the implementation of the $2.3 billion Aqaba Port railway project, a major infrastructure milestone set to transform the country’s transport and logistics sector.
The project will establish a joint company to build and operate a railway connecting Aqaba Port with key mining and production sites in the south, enabling the transport of up to 16 million tonnes of phosphate and potash annually.
Designed to enhance supply chain efficiency, reduce transport costs, and strengthen export competitiveness, the railway also marks a broader step toward deeper regional integration.
With future expansion possibilities across neighbouring countries, the project positions Aqaba as a growing regional logistics hub linking Jordan to wider Arab and global trade routes.
