Stop asking your kids, “How was school today?”
Kids feel emotionally overwhelmed after school and interpret the question as a monitoring trap, not support. Instead of feeling like they’re being monitored, try asking questions that spark curiosity and connection. Asking things like, “Did anything make you laugh today?” or “Can you tell me about something you’re reading?” are much more interesting for them.
These alternatives prevent kids from feeling overstimulated and foster genuine conversation. 🍎
One-year-olds watching TV and staying up late may face harmful developmental delays.
This professional was alarmed when a hairdresser mentioned his one-year-old niece wasn’t speaking, babbling, or saying common sounds like “mama” or “baba.” Further inquiry revealed the child was regularly staying up until 11 or 12 PM and watching TV constantly. Late bedtimes (7-8 PM is suggested) and screen time for infants are factors parents must be aware of.

Avoid these harmful parenting practices when helping your child study.
Punishing a child for fidgeting or moving around is harmful. Forcing long study sessions without breaks is also definitely harmful. Expecting a child to sit perfectly still, or comparing them to siblings and classmates, are definite no-nos. Instead, try helpful strategies like allowing some snacks and water breaks, and removing distracting toys from the room. 💡
