The Outpost

By year seven we have a manifesto.

On this day seven years ago we launched The Outpost. Back then, it was very much an experiment. We wanted to produce an alternative narrative from and on the Arab world, and we wanted to see what could happen as a result. Little did we know that it would go so far. But it did; we did.

We stopped publishing the printed edition in 2016, and spent the next three years experimenting with other media forms. We built a radio, hosted live events, organized workshops, gave talks, opened a café, and helped launch a Dance Mag. Next week, we are releasing a special, seven-year anniversary print in Amman, in collaboration with Amman Design Week 2019 and المنصّة platform.

It took us seven years of experimentation to finally find our voice. In a way, this anniversary is one of our many rebirths. But this one is a special one, because it's an opening of a whole new chapter in our journey.

We will keep on writing till we reach the zenith of our freedom. This time, however, contrary to when we started in 2012, we have a voice. And we have each other.
