What is the difference between food allergy and food intolerance?
Food allergy: is a reaction involving the immune system. Symptoms can be severe and life-threatening. Food allergy reaches up to 10% of populations in certain countries according to World Allergy Organization stats.
Food intolerance: is a reaction involving the digestive system. Symptoms are less severe than in the case of allergy. Percentages of food intolerance are much higher (e.g. it's estimated that 65% of the world has some form of lactose intolerance according to the National Library of Medicine (NLM)
