Three members of the Police Marine Unit, Sergeant. 271 Delice, Ag. Sergeant 785 Chicot, and Police Constable 180 Flavius, recently participated in the Coral Reef Hurricane Response Training Program hosted through the collaborative efforts of the Saint Lucia National Conservation Fund (SLUNCF) and the Coral Reef First Responders Team.
The five-day program brought together stakeholders committed to marine conservation and disaster preparedness, providing participants with both theoretical and practical training in coral reef damage assessment, stabilization techniques, underwater operations, navigation, documentation, and emergency response measures following hurricane impacts.
The training underscores the importance of collaboration between conservation organizations and law enforcement agencies in safeguarding Saint Lucia's marine ecosystems.
The Police Marine Unit extends its sincere appreciation to the Saint Lucia National Conservation Fund, the Coral Reef First Responders Team, and all facilitators and participants for their commitment to environmental stewardship and capacity building.
As hurricane seasons continue to pose challenges to our marine ecosystems, initiatives such as this ensure that Saint Lucia is better prepared to respond, recover, and protect its natural resources for future generations.
Together, through partnership, training, and shared responsibility, we can strengthen the resilience of our coral reefs and preserve the beauty and biodiversity of Saint Lucia's coastal waters.
