BAAA stages Easter Classic
The Bahamas Association of Athletic Associations staged the Easter Track and Field Classic on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 April.
Originally intended to be spread over the entire Easter weekend in the manner of the Carifta Games, the limited number of entries saw the event significantly reduced. Indeed, the extension to Sunday was necessitated by the BAAA’s need to complete the decathlon for men which featured Kendrick Thompson and Ken Mullings.

The competition in the Decathlon proved perhaps the most exciting of the Meet with Thompson narrowly defeating Mullings by a mere two points. In the process Thompson, competing for the University of The Bahamas, emerged as the new Bahamas national recorder holder for the decathlon with an overall performance of 7,650points. This bettered the old mark of 7,427 points which Mullings had set in 2019 while competing in the University of Miami Hurricane Alumni Invitational in Coral Gables, Florida.
Interestingly, the second placed Mullings also bettered the old mark with his achievement of 4,648 points..
Carlos Brown Jr was victorious victory in both the U-17 boys division 100m (10.39), and the 200m (21.49), easily surpassing the standards set by the BAAA for both the Carifta and World Juniors.
Paige Archer made the B qualifying standard in winning the U-17 100m (11.98) while Nia Richards won the 200m (24.42).
Other good performances came from Larcarthea Cooper (55.00) and Javonya Walcourt (55.21) in the U-20 girls' 400m. Cooper also ran 24.23 in the 200m.
And in the U-20 boys division, Wanya McCoy ran 10.59 and Zachary Evans, 10.64. McCoy also posted 21.26 in the 200.
Kaden Cartwright won the U-17 boys' javelin (55.39m), Camitra Mackey won the event for the U-20 girls (39.08m) and Tarajh Hudson throw of 53.64m earned him top honours in the U-20 boys' discus.

SAVE THE DATE – 24 APRIL 2021
NACAC is appealing to all member federations to save the date, Saturday 24 April 2021.
That is the day that the NACAC Constitution Review Working Group will engage in an article by article explanation of the proposed amendments to the Constitution of the organization.
All member federations are invited to participate. This will guarantee not only a better understanding of the proposed changes but facilitate your meaningful contribution to a process and eventual final document that will be in keeping with contemporary trends in global sport, shapes the future of our sport in sync with World Athletics and sustains NACAC’s leadership role in it.

Gender Leadership Training 2021
NACAC has extended invitations to all MFs to the World Athletics Gender Leadership training Programme being organized by its Gender Leadership Working Group.
The training on offer is consistent with NACAC’s continued recognition of the importance of leadership for the sustainable growth and development of each Member Federation, rooted in gender equity.

Murrell delights as Grenada Championships
Kelsie Murrell impressed at the annual National Championships of the Grenada Athletics Association on Saturday 3 April.
Competing Women’s Open category, Murrell, of the St. David Track Blazers. Kelsie coached by Paul Phillip, threw 16.15m. Murrell is a U-20 athlete preparing for this year’s Carifta Games and World Juniors.
Although plagued by the COVID-19 pandemic which severely restricted training opportunities, the GAA was pleased to have had participation from 12 clubs and over 200 athletes.

TASVG introduces GAP
Team Athletics St Vincent and the Grenadines (TASVG) is crafting a new, broad-based Grassroots Athletics Programme (GAP) that begins with the communities closest to the newly constructed national stadium at Diamond.
Brighton, Stubbs and Biabou have been singled out by Team Athletics St Vincent and the Grenadines for special attention because of their sporting legacy as well as proximity to the national stadium. The programme will incorporate the several villages in and around the aforementioned places.
While the schools constitute an important central point to identify the children and teachers, the emphasis will be on the several communities themselves and engaging them in athletics as a vehicle for community development.
The initiative is driven by the TASVG Strategic Plan 2021-2024. An important feature of the plan is that of significantly enhanced participation
Over the next several months, the communities will be combed to engage parents, teachers and children to get involved in athletics in a systematic way. The thrust will be led by the Technical Director of TASVG, Chester Morgan, and will involve Rawlson Morgan and Philcol Jeffers as well as several of the organisation’s coaches.
GAP will facilitate engaging children of all ages in the experience of running, jumping and throwing, the fundamentals of the sport.
Members of the communities targeted will be exposed to training in all aspects of the sport of athletics – administration, coaching, officiating, sports medicine, anti-doping and selection.
One critical area of participation is accessing the requisite support in terms of equipment.
Thanks to Yemi and Jabari Khensu, who created ‘Project Lace Them Up’, now supported by a ‘GoFundMe’ initiative, aimed initially, at providing shoes for the neediest of Vincentian athletes through to equipment and other requirements of participants in the sport of athletics, and World Athletics’ Athletics Olympic Dividend (AOD), TASVG can jump-start GAP.

JOB OPPORTUNITY IN NACAC – Application extended to 30 April 2021
At the deadline set for receipt of applications for the position of NACAC Director of Coaches and Camps the Secretariat had been in receipt of only one application. In an effort to facilitate member federations that may yet have applicants in waiting NACAC has extended the deadline for submissions to 30 April 2021.

The Director, Coaches and Camps will report directly to the CEO
Overview
The Director, Coaches and Camps will be the main point of contact for World Athletics and Member Federations regarding all programmes under the CECS, the organisation of Camps and related activities.
He/she will be responsible for ascertaining the region's coaching development needs and organising the appropriate activities, as well as establishing and maintaining good communication links with all NACAC Member Federations and other appropriate organisations and individuals.
The Director, Coaches and Camps will be based in his/her home country but shall travel as required for the proper implementation of the planned activities.
Key Responsibilities
• Production of a quadrennial programme of activities designed to meet the needs of NACAC and its national federations.
• Contribute to the annual NACAC Business Plan, budget estimates and annual activity calendar in consultation with the Director of Competitions and TOECS activities and the CEO
• Ensuring the roll out of two (2) World Athletics key initiatives: Kids’ Athletics and eLearning.
• Contribute to the World Athletics Annual Completion Report (financial report) twice a year or as requested.
• Ensure Activity/Seminar report forms and CECS Course report forms are collected and submitted to World Athletics and NACAC.
• Ensure the World Athletics database is regularly updated with NACAC Area Development activity data and Member Federation CECS course results.
• Regular submissions to the NACAC Development Website.
• Providing help and assistance to Area MFs regarding their educational needs.
• Monitor and evaluate NACAC programmes under his/her mandate
• Liaise with the Treasurer on all financial transactions in relation to the World Athletics development grant.
• Assist the CEO in seeking additional funding and or partnerships for NACAC.
Skills and Experience
• Management and organisational experience in athletics
• Strong communication skills
• Good knowledge of financial management and fund-raising
• Knowledge of CECS and lecturers in the NACAC region
Languages and IT
• Proficient in both English and Spanish
• Strong computer skills
Educational Background
• University Degree or Higher Education, preferably in Physical Education and/or Sports Management.
• Teaching experience, preferably in areas such as coaching, officiating or sports Administration.

NACAC is urgently reminding member federations to participate in the World Athletics World Plan consultation process, which started in late February and runs through to the end of April. We are encouraging you to respond to the Member Federation specific survey. It is your opportunity to have a major input into the decision-making process of your international federation, the world leader in sport.
The World Plan for Athletics 2022-2030 will be our major guide for the growth and development of Athletics. You must be a part of this exciting period in our sport.
The final approval of the Plan prepared after the consultations have taken place will be when you sit at the Congress and vote in November 2021.
The survey is available in English, Spanish and French and you only have to do it once for your member federation.

Annual Reports
NACAC extends sincere congratulations to all of our MF that completed and submitted their Annual Reports to World Athletics inside the established deadline and those that used the extended deadline to do so.
Now that we are aware of the changes in the Annual Report Forms, we encourage all of our member federations to stay focused and engage in astute monitoring of their work so that the completing exercise can be done with greater efficiency in 2022.

BAAA escenifica el Clásico de Pascua
La Asociación de Asociaciones Atléticas de las Bahamas organizó el Clásico de Atletismo de Pascua el sábado 3 y el domingo 4 de abril.
Originalmente destinado a distribuirse durante todo el fin de semana de Pascua a la manera de los Juegos Carifta, el número limitado de entradas redujo significativamente el evento. Murrell se deleita en el Campeonato de Granada
Kelsie Murrell impresionó en el Campeonato Nacional anual de la Asociación de Atletismo de Granada el sábado 3 de abril.
Competir en la categoría Open Femenino, Murrell, de los St. David Track Blazers. Kelsie, entrenado por Paul Phillip, lanzó 16.15m. Murrell es un atleta sub-20 que se prepara para los Carifta Games y World Juniors de este año.
Aunque plagado por la pandemia de COVID-19 que restringió severamente las oportunidades de entrenamiento, la GAA estaba complacida de haber tenido la participación de 12 clubes y más de 200 atletas.

TASVG presenta GAP
El Equipo de Atletismo de San Vicente y las Granadinas (TASVG) está elaborando un nuevo Programa de Atletismo de Base (GAP) de base amplia que comienza con las comunidades más cercanas al estadio nacional recién construido en Diamond.

Visión general
